City of Phoenix: Parks and Recreation Department

Curator-Shemer Art Center & Museum

• Review, jury and curate exhibitions of contemporary art by living Arizona artists.
• Exhibition design and installation.
• Promote, schedule and host monthly Artist’s Cafés, a professional development series designed for emerging artists.
  
• Organize and host receptions for exhibiting artists.
  
• Provide underserve communities with support and promotion by coordinating a variety of exhibits that feature children, disabled or emerging artists with the opportunity to exhibit their works.
  
• Coordinate the New Horizons High School Student show with over 40+ participating high schools and 20+ awards, gift certificates and scholarships.

• Direct educational program for the City of Phoenix at the Shemer Art Center and Museum Recreation Site.
• Develop, plan and organize a variety of year-round, fine art classes for infants, toddlers, school age children, teens, adults, elderly and emotionally and/or physically disabled population.
• Design a quarterly class brochure/schedule.
• Recruit, interview, hire, train and review qualified art instructors.
• Administer and review weekly instructor payroll.
• Prepare and distribute promotional materials for the art center: flyers, posters, class brochure/schedule.
• Lead and plan onsite activities at special events and fundraisers: artist demonstrations, children/adult art activities.
• Order, organize and maintain and inventory of class supplies and equipment.

• Ensure that all studio space is accordance with OCEA regulations and oversee the handling and inventory of all chemicals and hazardous materials.

City of Tempe: Kiwanis Recreation Center & Edna Vihel Tempe Center for the Arts

Art Instructor

• Design and teach art classes within the City of Tempe Parks and Recreation Department for toddlers, elementary age children, adolescents and adults.
• Develop all curriculum for art classes, including daily lesson plans for art activities.

• Design and implement curriculum for 60 elementary age children in an after-school program: including athletics, art activities, creative play centers, active games, special theme weeks, quest speakers/presenters.
• Create lesson plans and sample projects for daily activities.
• Order and organize supplies for school site.
• Train and supervise 3 part-time City of Tempe staff.
• Manage and correct behavior problems and disciplinary actions onsite.
• Reward and encourage all good behaviors and manners through verbal praise, special prizes and public recognition onsite.

City of Tempe: Social Services Department:  Kid Zone Enrichment Program

Art Instructor - Kid Zone Enrichment Program

• Design Great Artists: Famous Techniques art class.

• Introduce, facilitate and encourage children in the classroom setting, while working on projects outside and on field trips.

GALLERY EXPERIENCE

2002-2004 Photo Sessions Studio-Gallery Phoenix, AZ

• Cofounder and Director
• Managed a student cooperative gallery at 1023 Grand Ave, Phoenix, Arizona. Directed every aspect of gallery openings including: scheduling artist participants, installation of artwork, gallery maintenance and repair, exhibit concepts, and booking musical acts for art exhibitions.
• Gallery liaison for advertising and promotion of monthly “First Friday” and “Art Detour,” an annual tour of local artist’s studios.
